Manny Lujan and Jacob Banda lead Hormigas to opening day victory in Houston

3/6/2023-Weimar Hormigas opened the Spring League with 6-4 victory over the Houston Apollos. The Hormigas had seven hits compared the Apollos five. Banda and Manny Lujan lead the way for the Hormigas. Lujan was 2 for 3 with three hard hit balls. Banda was 3 for 4.

On the mound the Hormigas split the game between Banda, Garrett Payton, Daniel Benavidez, and Chris Bueno.

The for the Apollos Ricardo Preciado tripled in Dominiq Moore in the first and scored on a wild pitch. The Apollos struck out 10 times and the Hormigas struck out 12 times as the first game of the Spring League saw the hitters really behind the pitchers. Humberto Vela started for the Apollos going 2-2/3 innings with 4 strikeouts. Rene Ramirez threw 4-1/3 innings with 8 strikeouts and 0 walks.
